Right to Regulate and Levels of Protection. Recognising the sovereign right of each Party to establish its domestic policies and priorities on sustainable development, and its own levels of environmental and labour protection, consistent with the internationally recognised standards and agreements referred to in Articles 269 and 270, and to adopt or modify accordingly its relevant laws, regulations and policies; each Party shall strive to ensure that its relevant laws and policies provide for and encourage high levels of environmental and labour protection. Recognising the sovereign right of each Party Party, subject to establish the provisions of this Agreement, to pursue its domestic policies and priorities on own means for achieving sustainable development, and including establishing its own levels of labour and environmental and labour protection, consistent with the internationally recognised standards and agreements referred to in Articles 269 and 270, protection and to adopt or modify accordingly its relevant laws, regulations domestic laws and policies; , each Party shall strive seek to ensure that its relevant domestic laws and policies provide for and encourage high levels of environmental and labour protection. Article 269, consistent with standards, principles and agreements which they are committed or a Party to, and shall strive to further improve the level of protection provided for in those domestic laws and policies.
