Law enforcement’s role is to determine if a crime occurred, to identify suspects in crime, and to gather all pertinent facts and information related to a case for presentation to the Prosecutor’s Office for review. 2. Cases Referred by DCYF/CPS and/or Victim Service Agencies a) Procedure - Upon receipt of the referral, law enforcement will assign a detective as soon as possible.
