Routine Costs Associated With Qualifying Clinical Trials. If a Member is eligible to participate in an Approved Clinical Trial (according to the trial protocol), with respect to treatment of cancer or other life-threatening disease or condition, and either the Member’s referring provider is a Participating Provider who has concluded the Member’s participation in the trial would be appropriate, or the Member furnishes medical and scientific information establishing that his or her participation in the trial would be appropriate, benefits shall be payable for routine patient costs for items and services furnished in connection with the trial. Keystone must be notified in advance of the Member’s participation in the qualifying clinical trial.
