Safety Member Retirement. A. The County has implemented the formula in Government Code Section 31664 (the 2% at 50 safety retirement formula) for the Chief Probation Officer. Eligibility to receive the safety retirement enhancement is contingent on the employee still being employed by the County on, or being hired after, October 1, 2003 in an eligible classification. B. The County will pay for all past safety retirement - provided that this employment occurred in the County of Mendocino and meets the criteria set forth in this section. Pursuant to Government Code Section 31581.2, it is the intent of the Board of Supervisors that the retirement contributions made by the County β including those for past service - do not become a vested interest of, and will not accrue to the Chief Probation Officer. Upon retirement, sufficient funds will be transferred to the retirement reserves to assure that the retirement benefit is paid to the member and/or spouse.
