School Day Hours Clause Samples
The 'School Day Hours' clause defines the official start and end times of the school day for students and staff. It typically specifies the exact hours during which classes are held and may outline any variations for different grade levels or special schedules, such as early release days. By clearly establishing these hours, the clause ensures consistency in scheduling, helps coordinate transportation and supervision, and sets expectations for attendance and daily routines.
School Day Hours. The normal school week shall be Monday through Friday. The normal school day shall be used for classroom instruction, duty-free lunch, before and after school professional responsibilities and such other professional responsibilities as set forth in Section 2 of this Article. Classroom instruction time shall not exceed weekly maximums of twenty-eight and one-half (28 1/2) hours. This Section shall become void if by law or regulation the Board is required to establish a schedule of less than five (5) days. There is an expectation that the usual and customary minimum time for arrival and departure of teachers shall be approximately fifteen (15) minutes before the start of the first period class and approximately fifteen (15) minutes after the end of the last period class. Teachers assigned to elementary buildings are expected to sign-up on a rotating basis for supervisory assignments during the daily arrival and departure times. Decisions regarding supervisory assignments shall be made at the building level.
School Day Hours. Teachers must be available for duty each school day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. or 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Each school shall declare their preference for duty time for the next school year prior to May 1st of the current school year. The building administrator will seek input from the Teacher Advisory Council. Two days each month may be extended by 15 minutes to hold faculty or department meetings. One week’s notice of such meetings will be given to employees. Employees will be allowed to leave 15 minutes early one afternoon as compensation for each meeting. (9/17) On Fridays and days before vacations, teachers shall be dismissed five (5) minutes after students are dismissed.
