The School Day. 1. A teacher shall recognize his obligation to be prepared to meet his classes, shall arrive in sufficient time (a minimum of 5 minutes) to be prepared to meet his responsibilities to his classes, and remain for a reasonable amount of time (a minimum of 5 minutes) after the close of the pupil's day, or after his last teaching assignment to make suitable preparation. The School Day. The Board shall recognize the following right and responsibilities of teachers as it sets the schedules for the school day: A teacher shall be required to report for duty no earlier than five minutes before the start of the student school day (7:55 a.m.) and remain no longer than fifteen minutes after the end of the student day (3:15 p.m.) except for parent or professional meetings. On Fridays and days vacation begin, teachers may leave their respective buildings as soon as the busses have left. A teacher shall have a thirty (30) minute lunch period, free from duty, unless an emergency otherwise requires. In the event a teacher is called to assume an emergency responsibility, said teacher shall be compensated at the rate defined in Section 15.8 or they shall be given compensation time. In grades 7-12 the teacher workday shall include not more than six (6) teaching periods. A teacher shall be expected to attend all regularly scheduled professional meetings (e.g., building meetings, institutes, and professional organization meetings). The Board and the Association agree that some supervisory responsibilities shared among the teachers on an equitable basis are necessary at student functions. The Principal shall determine to which of those events teacher attendance is expected, which are eligible for extra compensation, and from which teachers may be excused. Assignments which are beyond this description of the school day and which are in excess of the basic professional responsibility shall be compensated in accordance with the extra-pay (for extra-duty) policy in the Salary Schedule. When an extended school day program is in existence, the employee involved shall not be required to be on duty longer than would be expected under the regular school program.
The School Day. 10.1 The duration of a full school day, including fifteen (15) minutes mid-morning break but excluding mid-day break shall be of 5.5 hours a day in schools within the Early and Junior Years cycles (i.e. 27.5 hours per week on a five-day week). Provided that the mid-day break shall be of thirty (30) minutes duration . Provided further that all working/school days shall be full days except the first two (2) working days before the fourth Monday of September (preparation days for teaching grades) and as from the first working /school day in June till the 6th of July. The duration of a half school day, including fifteen (15) minutes mid- morning break shall be of 3.75 hours per day in Early, Junior and Secondary Years cycles (i.e 18.75 hours per week on a five-day week).
10.2 Schools within the Secondary cycles and schools of a specialised nature may have a longer school day as may be established by MEDE in agreement with the Union. Provided that in such cases the school day shall in no case be shorter than 5.5 hours a day and not be longer than 6.5 hours a day including the fifteen

The advised arriving and leaving times for all teachers shall be thirty (30) minutes prior to their first assignment and following their last teaching assignment. When an administrator notifies a teacher in writing of a parent request for a meeting or conference, the teacher shall, within three (3) school days, meet with the parent or have scheduled a meeting for a later date and notify the administrator of the scheduled meeting. If a mutually acceptable date cannot be reached, the administrator shall, within the next five (5) school days, establish a meeting date and time during the teacher’s work day or within thirty minutes before or after the work day.
2. It is understood that on Fridays, and on days preceding holidays, teachers shall be free to leave the school building at the time of the pupils' dismissal or as soon as teachers have ascertained that satisfactory arrangements have been made for pupils to reach home by walking, busing, or parent pick-up. In case of inclement weather, teachers shall be free to leave the school building at the time of the pupils' dismissal when the teachers have ascertained by checking with the building principal that satisfactory arrangements
3. The work day in the elementary schools shall not exceed 434 minutes unless the day must be extended for purposes of receiving full funding pursuant to the State Aid Act. Supervisors of elementary recess shall be paid the amount specified in Schedule B. In the event no teacher accepts the Schedule B position, the teachers in the building shall cooperatively schedule recess responsibilities shared by all teachers. In Title I buildings, the Title “room” will be scheduled on the recess rotation schedule for one slot. Special Education teachers will fill one slot in the rotation. Special Education teachers who travel between buildings will not be required to participate in recess rotation on days when they travel. The normal duty day for teachers involved in regular classroom instruction, including all special teachers, shall be four hundred fifty (450) minutes, including the lunch period, and shall be distributed as follows:
The School Day. The Board and the Association recognize that a teaching assignment involves classroom instruction time, planning and conference time, general supervision of students’ time, lunch time, and travel time for those with an assignment in more than one building in one day. Teachers who travel as a part of their assignment shall be compensated for mileage at the IRS rate per mile in accordance with procedures established by the Business Office. If a teacher believes that their prep time or duty free lunch is not provided in their original schedule, upon notification, administration will meet with the Association and building principal to discuss the situation and seek resolution.
The School Day. Basically, the professional job consists of the following fundamental obligations and responsibilities, set within the context of the school day as practiced according to administrative policy. The normal duty day for teachers involved in regular classroom instruction, including all special teachers, shall be four hundred fifty (450) minutes, including the lunch period, and shall be distributed as follows:
A. 385 minutes (1,129.33 hours) assigned to pupil instruction for the elementary and secondary.
B. Seventy-four (74) consecutive minutes of instructional preparation at the secondary school level.
C. All teachers (elementary and secondary) shall report to work and sign in ten (10) minutes before the entrance xxxx for students and remain ten (10) minutes after dismissal xxxx for students. Beginning the 2011-2012 school year, each elementary classroom teacher only will receive a maximum of three (3) fifty (50) minute enrichment sessions per week within the regular school day. These enrichment sessions are experimental for three (3) years 2011-2012/2012- 2013/2013-2014. Coverage of classroom during these enrichment sessions will be determined solely by the administration. No part of Article X Rights of the Teacher (Section 10.5.1); relief teachers of this contract will apply to these independent contractors. Each bargaining unit member will donate two (2) Saturdays per school year. Each Saturday shall be four (4) hours long to engage students in activities that are academically based on the four core subject areas: (math, science, social studies, and language arts). Detention will be excluded from these activities. This is only experimental for three (3) years 2011-2012/2012-2013/2013-2014.
D. Twenty
The School Day. Registration & Assembly 8.35 a.m. Period 1: 8.50 a.m. Period 2: 9.50 a.m. Break: 10.50 a.m. Period 3: 11.10 a.m. Period 4: 12.10 p.m. Lunch: 1.10 p.m. Afternoon Registration: 2.10 p.m. Period 5: 2.15 p.m.
6.1 On arrival pupils need to go either to the area designated to them by the Senior Deputy Headteacher – they must not enter the main building before 8.30 apart from the dining room. 6th form students may go to the Common Room.
6.2 All pupils in Years 7-11 are expected to be in registration/lessons during the above times. 6th Form pupils are allowed off-site at lunch time or if they have been granted home study leave by their Head of Year. They must sign out first whenever they leave the premises.
6.3 In the case of unavoidable dental, optician or medical appointments, pupils must bring a note from parents/carers. This should be shown to the form teacher who will initial it. The pupil should then get a ‘permission to leave school’ form from the Office and have it completed either by his form teacher or the Head of Year. When the time comes to leave school the pupil should report to the Office to collect an absence pass and be booked out. Upon returning the pupil should report to the office and hand in the absence pass.
6.4 Any pupil who is late for registration after 8:50 a.m. must report to the office upon arrival in school.
6.5 Entry to and exit from the school grounds are only by way of the main gate or by the gate near Black Bridge. In the interest of safety parents/carers are requested to not use the school drive but drop their children at the bottom of the drive.
6.6 During the lunch break only those Year 7 to 11 pupils whose parents have notified the school that lunch is provided at home may leave the school premises. Sixth Form students may leave the school premises but are still considered to be representing the School whilst doing so.

The School Day. 19.1 The school calendar shall be presented to the Board by the Superintendent following review and discussion by the staff of the District.
19.2 A duty-free lunch period shall be provided for each teacher. It shall be at least as long as the student lunch period, or thirty (30) consecutive minutes, whichever is longer, exclusive of passing periods, but not more than sixty (60) minutes.
19.3 In an emergency or unusual situation, a teacher may be used as a substitute for another teacher during the school day. The substitution will be mutually agreed upon by the teachers and must not be detrimental to the students.
19.4 All teachers shall be entitled to at least a ten (10) minute "break" after a maximum of two (2) hours of pupil-contact load within every three (3) hour period. Every effort shall be made to give a break within a two (2) hour period.
19.5 There shall be one hundred eighty-three (183) school days to the school year. This shall include one hundred eighty (180) student days, and three (3) teacher buyback days (subject to the buyback program). If minimum school days are scheduled, they shall be in accordance with the California Education Code and shall be included in the school calendar.
