Screening and Testing of Applicants. a) The Police Chief will develop and implement the screening and testing procedures used to determine whether an applicant will be offered a position as a police cadet in a Police Academy class. The screening and testing procedures will include, at a minimum, a structured Oral Interview Board and a background investigation. Nothing in this AGREEMENT or in Chapter 143 will restrict the nature of the tests administered to applicants or the procedures used to administer those tests. b) Applicants who successfully complete all of the screening and testing procedures will be placed on an eligibility list per Department policy or procedure. Applicants on the eligibility list may be offered a position as police cadet in any upcoming Police Academy class. c) Each eligibility list created as a result of the process described in this Section shall remain effective for twenty-four (24) months after certification by the Civil Service Commission.
