Segregated Ballast Clause Samples
The Segregated Ballast clause defines the requirement for a vessel to maintain separate tanks for ballast water that are not used for carrying cargo or fuel. In practice, this means that the ballast water, which is used to stabilize the ship, must be kept in dedicated tanks that are completely isolated from cargo and fuel tanks, preventing contamination. This clause ensures compliance with environmental regulations and helps prevent pollution, thereby protecting marine ecosystems and reducing the risk of cargo contamination.
