Selection for Vacant Positions. The Employer agrees that senior employees shall have preference for vacant positions posted in accordance with Clause 12.2 so far as it is practicable to do so and provided that their qualifications are relatively equal. Schedule "B" only - Should all qualifications be equal, the applicant with longer service in a classification requiring the same ticket as the posted position shall be appointed to the position. Where the Employer fills a position on a temporary basis pending the posting of a position it is not the intent that any senior employee will be denied the posted position solely on the basis that the temporary appointee is more qualified by virtue of having filled the position on a temporary basis. Should differences arise with respect to any employee applying for any of the positions mentioned herein the Employer shall provide reasons why such employee was not selected for said position.
