Common use of Signals Clause in Contracts

Signals. The master of an oil vessel shall, at all times that the vessel is nearing or is at a wharf, display at the foremast head, or other conspicuous place clear of all obstructions so as to be clearly visible from any direction at a distance of at least one mile from the vessel — (a) by day, the International code flag “B”; and (b) during the hours of darkness a red light so positioned as to be clear of all other lights on the vessel.
