Common use of Special Event Clause in Contracts

Special Event. Special events include athletic events, auditorium performances, building use contracts and extracurricular activities. Special Event work is the performance of duties by custodians and engineers in connection with a special event. This work is normally outside the contracted workday, is not part of regularly assigned duties and may be performed during the week as well as during weekends. The assignment of Special Event work will be assigned on a rotational basis utilizing classification seniority within the building. If no one in the building is interested, the work will be offered to the most senior person in the classification on a rotational basis. Special event work will be posted. To be considered, the employee must timely sign the special event posting. The posting will include the name of the event, date, location, hours of work and classification of eligible employees. The work will normally be offered in four (4) hour blocks but may be longer as determined by the supervisor.
