STAFF PERSONAL SECURITY AND SAFETY. 24-1: The School District will be vigorous in its protection of all employees from physical and/or psychological abuse. 24-2: The following procedures shall be followed in instances of assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, knowingly making false allegations of child abuse, or any alleged offense under the “Colorado Criminal Code” by a student directed toward a teacher or school employee. These same procedures shall be followed in instances of damage by a student to the personal property of a teacher or school employee occurring on School District premises or while performing his/her duties and responsibilities. a. The staff member shall file a written complaint with the building principal, the immediate supervisor, the Superintendent or designee and the Board. b. The principal, after receipt both of the complaint and adequate proof of the charges, shall suspend the student according to the Montrose County School District RE-1J Behavior Consequence Matrix in accordance with established procedures. c. The Superintendent shall initiate procedures for the further suspension or expulsion of the student when deemed necessary. d. The Superintendent or designee shall be informed of the incident(s) and will report to the appropriate law enforcement agency. 24-3: The following procedures shall be followed in instances of assault, disorderly conduct, harassment knowingly making false allegations of child abuse, or any alleged offense under the “Colorado Criminal Code” by a non-student directed toward a teacher or school employee. These same procedures shall be followed in instances of damage by a non-student to personal property of a staff member occurring on School District premises or while performing his/her duties and responsibilities. a. The staff member shall file a written complaint with the building principal, the Superintendent's office and the Board. b. The Superintendent or designee shall be informed of the incident(s) and will report to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
