Standby Service. Standby service may be maintained as required in the departments coming within the scope of this Agreement.

Standby Service. Where the needs of the service require that employees be available to perform emergency work during off-scheduled hours the Employer, by arrangement with the Local Union representatives or shop xxxxxxx may, by written order, assign employees to standby duty. During the assigned period the employee shall notify their headquarters where they can be readily contacted. Standby duty will be equitably assigned to available qualified employees. Where employees are assigned to standby duty they shall be paid two hours at straight-time for each working day and four hours straight-time for each non-working day. Calls to duty shall be paid for at the prevailing overtime rate in addition to the remuneration for standby duty. If standby time is arranged, it shall be for a period of five consecutive days (not including Saturday or Sunday) if week-day standby is involved, and it shall be for not less than the week-end if week-end standby is arranged. Notification for either week-day standby or week-end standby shall be given not later than 16:00 hours on the preceding Monday, or if Monday is a statutory holiday or a scheduled SWP day, on the preceding Tuesday. Week-end standby shall commence at the conclusion of the last regular working day in the week and will continue until the commencement of the first regular working day in the following week. Ten hours at straight-time will be paid for standby for a two-day week-end plus four hours at straight- time for each additional non-working day associated with the week-end. Notwithstanding the above, during the Christmas and New Years holiday period it is agreed that standby coverage may be broken down according to historical practice with weekday (16:00 - 08:00) coverage attracting 2 hours pay and weekend or statutory holiday coverage attracting 4 hours pay.
Standby Service. The Employer will consult with the Union prior to requiring standby service in an area where it has not previously been a requirement. Where the Employer requires standby service, the following process shall be used: a) Employees in the department with the qualifications required for standby service shall submit their availability when requested by the Employer; b) The supervisor will distribute assignments fairly and equitably based on availability for coverage submitted by employees under subsection a); c) Where no availability is submitted the Employer may schedule an employee for standby service using a rotation beginning with the least senior employee. d) An employee shall be paid three dollars and fifty cents ($3.50) for every hour on standby service in addition to any pay the employee may be entitled to under clause 15.02 if called in. e) If an employee is required to be on standby service for less than eight (8) hours, the employee will receive eight (8) hours standby service pay. f) An employee on sick time, vacation or leave of absence is deemed not available for standby service during the period of the absence until their next schedule shift.

Standby Service. Any employee who is obliged to place himself at the disposal of the business outside the normal daily working hours shall be entitled to compensation as stipulated in the internal regulation of the business concerned and/or in his individual employment contract. I. Work at a visual display screen a) entitled to undergo an eye test once a year at no cost to the employee; b) allowed 15 minutes rest for each continuous period of four hours' work at the screen. These rest periods cannot be aggregated or carried forward. They are to be arranged as follows by the employer: 1) The 15 minutes rest must be taken during the 3rd hour of service in each data inputting period of 4 hours. The head of department responsible shall decide whether a general break is to be taken or a break arranged by sections of the department. In the event of a breakdown of the computer system for 15 minutes or more between the end of the second hour and/or during the third hour of data inputting, the rest period shall not be allowed. Similarly, it shall not be due if the employee is authorized to leave the place of work during the same period. 2) In case of urgent work and at the request of a senior employee, the break may be interrupted or carried forward in part until a later time on the same day. 3) During the break, employees may not leave the bank: the employee shall not disturb the work of other colleagues in the same department or in other departments (decision of 7 January 1986 by the Joint Committee).
