Common use of Stolen or Damaged Personal Property Clause in Contracts

Stolen or Damaged Personal Property. There shall be a fund for the purpose of reimbursing employees whose personal property has been stolen or damaged in the course of the performance of the unit member’s required duties. The amount of the fund shall be $5,000. Guidelines for the administration and disbursement of funds have been jointly developed by the parties with the understanding that M-DCPS will retain control of the administration and disbursement of the fund. It is understood further that the unit member shall forward his/her claim to M-DCPS together with the required documentation. Disbursement by M-DCPS, regarding individual claims, will be pursuant to the recommendation of the joint committee. Reimbursement for stolen or damaged personal property shall be in the amount of documented actual replacement cost provided, however, that such reimbursement shall not exceed the amount of $200 per item claimed to have been damaged or stolen (exclusive of personal vehicle and cash). It is understood and agreed that, once the employee forwards the claim to the designated M-DCPS representative, every attempt will be made to reimburse the employee within 60 days from the submission of the employee's claim.
