Study Leaves without Pay. A leave of absence without pay may be granted for study. If a teacher carries a minimum of twelve (12) credits or its equivalent for each quarter and/or semester, the time spent on leave of absence will be included in computing eligibility for a step increase. This provision shall not extend beyond a single annual step. The institution and the course of study which the employee pursues must be approved by the Superintendent of Schools or designee.
