Common use of Support of Reasonable and Prudent Judgment Clause in Contracts

Support of Reasonable and Prudent Judgment. In the exercise of authority by a staff member to control and maintain order and discipline, the staff member may use reasonable and prudent judgment concerning matters not provided for in specific Regulations adopted by the District and not inconsistent with federal or state laws or regulations. The Board, Superintendent, and school administrators shall support and uphold staff in their efforts to maintain discipline in the District and shall give timely response to all staff members’ requests regarding discipline problems. Further, the Board supports the authority of staff to use prudent corrective actions as defined in WAC 392-400 for the maintenance of the learning atmosphere and the safety and well-being of students and staff.
