Surviving Spouse Benefit for Retiree on Duty Disability Retirement. A surviving spouse of a retiree who is receiving a duty disability pension at the time of death shall continue to receive the same duty disability pension benefit throughout the life of the surviving spouse. It is understood that this would entitle the surviving spouse to the same benefits he or she would receive had the retiree lived to the age of fifty-five (55) years and has selected their spouse as beneficiary under Act 345.

A surviving spouse of a retiree who is receiving a duty disability pension at the time of death shall continue to receive the same duty disability pension benefit throughout otherwise paid to the life disability retiree until attainment of age 55. At the surviving spouse. It is understood that this time the duty disability retiree would entitle have otherwise attained the age of 55, the surviving spouse shall be entitled to a benefit based upon the same benefits he or she would receive had retiree’s attainment of age 55, recomputation in accordance with retirement system provisions, and the retiree lived to designation of the age of fifty-five (55) years and has selected their spouse as his/her 60% surviving spouse beneficiary under Act 345.
