Common use of Temporary Assistance Clause in Contracts

Temporary Assistance. 9.21 An employee shall only be expected to carry out the duties of her classification within her department but this shall not be interpreted to mean that an employee shall refuse to render assistance of a temporary nature as required provided such assistance is not assigned on a regular basis. Temporary assistance contemplates the fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities of a position irrespective of the presence of the regular employee. Assisting a higher rated employee due to a temporary increase in the volume of work does not constitute a temporary assignment. When temporary assistance is required for one (1) day or more she shall be paid at the higher rate for the duration of the temporary assistance.
