The Temporary Duty Pay clause establishes the conditions under which employees are compensated for performing work assignments away from their regular duty station for a limited period. Typically, this clause outlines eligibility criteria, the calculation of additional pay, and the types of assignments that qualify, such as travel to another city for a training session or covering a temporary vacancy. Its core function is to ensure employees are fairly compensated for the inconvenience and extra costs associated with temporary assignments, thereby promoting fairness and encouraging flexibility in workforce deployment.
Temporary Duty Pay. Employees temporarily assigned to a higher position shall be entitled to five percent (5%) of base pay in additional responsibility pay retroactive to the first hour of the first day the assignment began, beginning with the third day or shift (third day or shift for employees assigned to a four (4) day workweek) of such temporary assignment. Temporary duty pay terminates at the end of the temporary assignment, which shall not exceed six (6) months without the written consent of the County Manager. If the County Manager extends a temporary assignment beyond six (6) months, the County will notify the LCEA, in writing, of the Department, name of individual, classification, length of extension, and reason for extension.
Temporary Duty Pay. The City agrees to recommend to the City of Daly City Personnel Board revision to the Rules and Regulations of the Classified Service, Rule XII Transfers, section 6d “A sworn Police Officer temporarily assigned the duties of another position in excess of 5 working days, whether or not consecutive, shall then receive his or her permanent salary or the salary of the temporary assignment, whichever is higher.
Temporary Duty Pay. (a) Employees who are temporarily assigned to perform the full responsibilities of a job classification title in a higher pay grade than their regular job classification title shall be paid for all hours worked in such higher pay grade at either seven percent (7%) above their regular rate of pay or the minimum rate for the higher pay grade. Corporals who are performing in a higher job classification for seven consecutive working days will be paid at the higher rate beginning the first day worked in that assignment. Temporary Duty pay comes in line with the pay scale. The higher rate will be seven percent (7%).
(b) The above provisions shall apply provided the Personnel Officer has determined that all of the following conditions are satisfied:
1. The position to be filled temporarily is an authorized budgeted position.
2. There is no incumbent in the position or the incumbent is absent from duty.
3. The assigned employee is listed on a current qualifying register for the classification or, if no qualifying register exists, meets the minimum qualifications for the classification unless, in the sole discretion of the Chief of Police, a particular situation warrants that the assignment be made without respect to the minimum qualifications for the higher position.
4. The assigned employee is able to perform all the normal duties expected of a person occupying that position.
5. An employee assigned to a temporary acting position will retain all bargaining unit rights and benefits.
Temporary Duty Pay. (a) Employees within the job classification title of Senior Dispatcher who are temporarily assigned to perform the full responsibilities of an ECS, shall be paid for all hours worked in such higher pay grade at either 6.04% above their regular rate of pay, or as close as a numerical equivalent at the higher grade if their current salary is at the top of their pay range. Such higher level duties must be performed for a period of more than 4 consecutive work days. The higher rate shall be paid beginning the 5th day of such assignment and shall be retroactive to the first day and will include the fifteen- minute briefing.
Temporary Duty Pay. An Officer who is required to perform the duties of a higher class title is entitled to be paid the salary prescribed for lowest level of that class title that results in a pay raise during the time the Officer performs those duties. This requires pre-authorization from the Executive Staff. Officer in charge designation will only be authorized to the supervisor rank one step above the current rank (e.g., police officer/detective to sergeant, sergeant to lieutenant, etc.). Any Officer whose employment is terminated by death, resignation, or retirement while acting in a temporary appointment shall nevertheless be paid the Officer's accumulated sick leave and vacation at the permanent rate.
