The Academic Institution: The Governing Board. 1. The Governing Board has a special obligation to assure that the history of the college shall serve as a prelude and inspiration to the future. The Board helps relate the institution to its chief community; e.g. the community college to serve the educational needs of a defined population area or group, and to accept the appropriate new challenges which are its concern.
