Union Engagement. 2.1 The City and the Union will administer the provisions of this Article with regard to dues deduction and membership of employees in accord with their respective obligations under the law.
2.1.1 Any disputes concerning the amount of dues or fees and/or the responsibility of the Union to the employees covered by this Agreement shall not be subject to the grievance and arbitration procedures set forth in this Agreement.
2.2 Neither party shall discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of membership or non-membership in the Union. Provided however, that this clause shall not restrict the Union from providing internal Union-sponsored benefits to Union members only.
2.3 The City shall make deductions on a regular basis from an employee's pay for the regular Union dues or other obligation agreed between the employee and the Union; provided such employees shall authorize said deductions in writing on a form to be filed with the City. The City shall remit such deductions to the Union. The performance of this function is recognized as a service to the Union by the Employer.
2.4 The Union recognizes that it is the Union's exclusive responsibility to notify employees of their options regarding association and/or membership. The Union agrees to indemnify and hold the Employer harmless from all claims, demands, suits or other forms of liability that arise against the Employer for deducting dues from union members, including those that have communicated a desire to revoke a previous deduction authorization, along with all other issues related to the deduction of dues or fees.

Union Engagement. The PERX team recognizes that engagement with the Union is important to the development of the program therefore the PERX team is committed to engaging the Union as part of the program’s development. Discussions with the Union will be on-going so both parties can further develop additional tools and methods for promoting and providing positive recognition to employees.
Union Engagement. 25.1 Union Encouragement ICC shall establish mutually agreed procedures through the Enterprise Agreement Consultative Committee so that all reasonable steps are taken to encourage employees, including subcontractors’ employees, to be financial members of the relevant Union whilst working on site in the aforementioned Unions’ classifications. All employees shall be provided with an application form and information from the relevant Union/s at the point of engagement. Such application forms and information are to be made available by ICC as provided by the relevant Union. Union representatives shall be given access to new employees at engagement and induction so as to facilitate the encouragement of union membership. Any dispute arising under clause 25 including claims that an employer has not met his obligations shall be dealt with in accordance with clause 10 Grievance and Dispute Settlement Procedure.
