Unknown Shift Vacancies. Permanent and Temporary Employees (i.e. excluding casuals) who work extra shifts which are “unknown shift vacancies” at the request of the Employer shall be compensated at their applicable rate of pay plus a premium equal to fifty percent (50%) of the Employee’s regular rate of pay per shift. For the purposes of this Article, only “unknown shift vacancies” shall be eligible for the premium. “Unknown shift vacancies” are those shifts on a schedule that were filled by an employee, and the Employer becomes aware within forty-eight (48) hours of the beginning of the shift that the employee will not be working their scheduled shift. Payment of the premium shall be administered in accordance with Article 21.3.
