Use of Recycled Products. 36 For services rendered pursuant to this Agreement, CONTRACTOR shall use 37 recycled paper for all printed material such as brochures, reports, studies, and 38 promotional literature, that exceeds ten (10) pages, or if the cumulative total number of 39 pages per document or printed material times the number of copies made is in excess 40 of ten (10) pages. 1 23.20.1 For the purposes of this Section, “recycled paper” means a paper or 2 wood pulp product with not less than fifty percent (50%) off its total weight 3 consisting of secondary and post consumer waste and with not less than thirty 4 percent (30%) of its total weight consisting of post consumer waste. “Post 5 consumer waste” means a finished material that would normally be disposed of 6 as a solid waste, having completed its life cycle as a consumer item. “Secondary 7 waste” means fragments of products or finished products of a manufacturing 8 process that has converted a virgin resource into a commodity of real economic 9 value and includes post consumer waste but does not include fibrous waste 10 generated during the manufacturing process such as fibers recovered from waste 11 water or trimmings of paper machine rolls (mill broke), wood slabs, chips, 12 sawdust, or other wood Residue from a manufacturing process. 13 23.20.2 CONTRACTOR may request an exemption from the requirements of 14 this Section by submitting such request in writing to CITY’s Director of 15 Environmental Services. Such a request may be approved or denied, in whole or 16 in part, at said Director’s sole discretion. CONTRACTOR shall not use, in the 17 performance of services under this Agreement, any product or material that does 18 not meet the standards set forth above without the prior written approval of said 19 Director.
