Common use of Vacating the Accommodation Clause in Contracts

Vacating the Accommodation. 14.1 The Student must vacate the Accommodation at the end of the Licence Period or within 28 days of thetermination of this Agreement howsoever determined. Where the Agreement is terminated as a result of a student’s suspension under clause 5.3 (c) or under clauses 5.3 (b), 5.3 (d) or 5.3 (e) of the Agreement, the Student must vacate the Accommodation within a period specified by the University which shall not be less than 24 hours from the point of written notification of the termination. 14.2 The University shall inspect the Accommodation once it has been vacated by the Student. Where it is found that items on the inventory are either missing or damaged beyond what the inspector, in their reasonable discretion, decides fair wear and tear, the Student will be charged with the reasonable reinstatement value of such an item with reference to its prior listed condition on the inventory allowing for fair wear and tear. 14.3 Upon vacating the Accommodation at the end of the Licence Period or other specified time, the Student shall: (i) clean the Room; (ii) remove all personal effects and any unwanted items, and (iii) lock the Room and surrender any key provided to the University’s Security Office before leaving the University’s premises. Failure by the Student to comply with this clause 14.3 will result in the Student having to make a Default Payment in relation to any costs incurred by the University for cleaning the Room; clearing the Room of items left or replacing the Room key (where applicable). 14.4 The University will take reasonable steps to inform the Student where any personal effects have been left in their Room. If the University is unable to contact the Student following reasonable attempts to do so, then the University may dispose of the personal effects in what it considers to be the most appropriate way, without incurring any liability.

Failure by Students who fail to return their key before leaving will be required to pay a fixed charge of £20 for the Student to comply with this clause 14.3 will result in the Student having to make a Default Payment in relation to any costs incurred by the University for cleaning the Room; clearing the Room purpose of items left or replacing the Room key (where applicable)or lock. 14.4 The University will remove any item left in the Residence by the Student at the end of the Licence Period and shall not be obliged to return it to the Student unless it is of obvious value to the reasonable person. TheUniversity will take reasonable steps to inform the Student where any personal effects have been left in their Room. If the University is unable to contact items which are of a clear and obvious value over£100 are concerned, but if the Student cannot be traced following reasonable attempts to do so, by the University then the University may dispose of the personal effects item in what it considers to be the most appropriate way, without incurring any liabilityliability to the Student. 14.5 The University will clear up to two bags (standard-sized black bin-liners) of rubbish free ofcharge when the Student vacates, but the Student will incur a charge of £16.50 for additional rubbish which the University has to clear from the Room or the Common Parts.

Failure Students who fail to return their keys before leaving will be required to pay a fixed charge for the purpose of replacing the keys/fobs and/or locks. 10.4 The University will remove any items left in the Accommodation by the Student at the end of the Licence Period and shall not be obliged to comply with this clause 14.3 will result in return any such items to the Student having to make a Default Payment in relation to any costs incurred by the University for cleaning the Room; clearing the Room unless /they are of items left or replacing the Room key (where applicable). 14.4 obvious value. The University will take reasonable steps to inform the Student where any personal effects have been left in their Roomof items of value left. If the University is unable student cannot be traced, or fails to contact the Student following reasonable attempts to do socollect any such items within 30 days, then the University may may, without incurring any liability, dispose of the personal effects items in what it considers to be the most appropriate way, without . Any such disposal may result in the Student incurring any liabilityadditional costs.
