Vacation and Holiday Selection. A. All members of the Fire Department shall have the option of selecting full tour vacation and/or holiday periods (hereinafter referred to as Annual Leaves) that begin during a year cycle, April 1 through March 31. Members scheduling leaves that begin in March of the year cycle and continues into April of the next year cycle shall be granted their request based upon the Rules of Selection. The options are identified as Round One, Round Two, and Round Three annual leaves. Members may elect to use Vacation Leave, Compensatory Time or Holiday Leave in any of the rounds, however they shall only be entitled to take one type of leave per round. The Annual Leave selection process shall commence no later than January 1 and shall be subject to the Rules of Selection. The Rules of Selection shall be discussed and mutually agreed upon annually no later than September 1.
B. The Round One Leave choices shall be scheduled on the basis of seniority in the Fire Department. During this selection, scheduling must allow for a minimum of twenty two (22), 48-hour members in the Fire Department to be on annual leave during each tour, subject to Section 22.3.
C. Upon the completion of Round One leave choices, Department lists shall be posted showing seniority and Round One leave assignments. Members shall be permitted one week to review the lists.
D. Round Two leave selection shall commence upon completion of the Round One leave review. Round Two picks shall be scheduled on the basis of seniority in the Fire Department. During this selection, scheduling must allow for a minimum of twenty two (22), 48-hour members in the Fire Department to be on annual leave during each tour, subject to Section 22.3.
E. Upon completion of Round Two leave choices, Department lists will be posted showing seniority and Round One and Round Two leave assignments. Members shall be permitted one week to review these lists.
F. Round Three leave selection shall commence upon completion of the Round One and Round Two leave review. Round Three picks shall be scheduled on the basis of seniority in the Fire Department. Vacation and Holiday Selection. 3 SECTION 1. SELECTION The selection for time off for vacations and 4 holidays shall be made by the third Thursday in December of the 5 preceding year, shall be based upon seniority, and shall be for vacation 6 and holidays combined. The member with the most seniority within a given 7 shift makes the first selections and so on; however, the members can 8 mutually switch vacation periods if it can be done without inconvenience to 9 the Village or creating overtime costs. During first round selections, an 10 member selecting consecutive work days may utilize a maximum of six 11 days, or, if selecting non-consecutive work days, may utilize a maximum 12 of three days. All subsequent rounds shall allow a maximum of three days 13 per selection. Employees not making a vacation/holiday selection by the 14 third Thursday in December of the preceding year, shall lose all right to 15 pick by seniority, and must select from the time remaining. Regardless of 16 the manner of selection, all time off for vacations shall be taken by 17 December 31st of the respective year.
