Section 29.4 Members who lose their vacation selection in accordance with Section 18.2, may temporarily exceed maximum vacation balances during the vacation cycle of April 1 through March 31. Members voluntarily transferring or changing units shall forfeit any balances in excess of the maximum balance at the completion of the vacation cycle on March 31.

Unused leave will not be paid as a terminal benefit. Vacation and Holiday leave must be scheduled and approved in advance by the respective Program Director or his/her designee. Vacation and Holiday Leave. Section 1. Vacation and holiday leave pay shall be granted to Employees in accordance with the following provisions:
a) An Employee must be on regular employment status and have been employed by the City continuously for twelve (12) months before being eligible to expend vacation and holiday time.
b) Vacation and holiday leave shall normally be requested and granted during the twelve (12) month period which follow the Employee's vacation accrual year.
c) Vacation and holiday leave shall not exceed the total amount credited to an Employee at the time of the proposed departure.
d) Employees shall not be permitted to use either accrued vacation and holiday leave or accrued compensatory time during periods of suspension.
e) Any certified Police Officer on regular employment status working a full shift on one of the following designated holidays will be paid at a rate of time and a half (elected as time or pay, but not split between the two compensation methods) provided, however, that the Officer has not used any sick leave within three (3) calendar days, either before or after, the holiday:
Section 2. Vacation and holiday leave shall be granted and accrued in the following manner:
a) After one year of continuous service, one hundred sixty-eight hours (168 hours) per year;
b) Upon completion of five (5) years of continuous service, an Employee shall be granted two hundred eight hours (208 hours) per year.
c) Upon completion of ten (10) years of continuous service, an Employee shall be granted two hundred forty-eight hours (248 hours) per year.
d) Upon approval by the Chief of Police, an Officer may be allowed to sell up to forty-eight (48) hours of accrued vacation leave at the current value based on the straight time rate for the officer. Provided, however, that the Officer has an accrued vacation balance of one hundred

Vacation and Holiday Leave. 15.1. For Battalion Chief Bargaining Unit members employed by the City of Xxxxxx, the accruals may vary from one pay period to the next based on the regular hours worked or whether the employee is in a paid status during the pay period. For Battalion Chief Bargaining Unit Members employed by the City of Springfield, the same number of hours is accrued each pay period. Accrued vacation and holiday leave may not be used until the completion of the pay period in which it is earned. Employees are not eligible to use vacation and holiday leave until they have been employed for six (6) consecutive months.
a. Effective January 1, 2014, vacation and holiday accruals for 24-hour shift employees will be combined as outlined in the tables below
i. The Vacation and Holiday leave accrual amounts listed in the table below include vacation, shift holiday, and management vacation hours previously received by exempt status non-represented employees in the Battalion Chief Bargaining Unit.
ii. b. Vacation accrual will be based on the following schedule for forty (40) hour employee classifications.
i. Vacation accrual amounts set out in the table below include vacation and management vacation hours previously received by exempt status non-represented employees in the Battalion Chief Bargaining Unit.
ii. Regular, part-time employees who work at least twenty (20) hours a week, but less than forty (40) hours per week, will be credited with vacation on a pro-rata basis.

Vacation and Holiday Leave a. The Superintendent/President shall accrue two (2) days of paid vacation leave each month and shall be entitled to all paid holidays granted to management personnel. Accrued vacation leave shall be used at a time mutually convenient to the Superintendent/President and the Board. The Board reserves the right, upon giving reasonable notice, to direct the Superintendent/President to use accrued vacation leave. If the Superintendent/President plans to use more than one week of vacation at a time, she shall first notify the Board.
b. At the end of each fiscal year, Superintendent/President, at her sole option, has the right to convert to cash at her current hourly rate up to 10 days of accrued and unused vacation.
c. In the event the Superintendent/President accrues 48 days of vacation leave, she shall not accrue any more vacation leave until she uses vacation leave. She may then accrue additional vacation leave until 48 days are accrued.
d. Upon termination or expiration of this Agreement, the Superintendent/President shall be entitled to compensation for accrued and unused vacation days up to a maximum of 48 days, at the then current salary rate.
