Common use of Waste Generation/Characterization Studies Clause in Contracts

Waste Generation/Characterization Studies. Contractor acknowledges that County may perform solid waste generation and characterization studies periodically, but no more often than once in any five-year period, to determine the composition of collected materials. Contractor agrees to participate and cooperate with County and its agents and to accomplish studies and data collection and prepare reports, as needed, to determine weights and volumes of solid waste and/or targeted recyclable materials and characterize materials generated, disposed, transformed, diverted or otherwise handled/processed to satisfy requirements of the Act. Contractor shall also facilitate visual audits of multi-family dwelling, commercial cart and bin service accounts. The visual audits will entail tipping the contents of customers’ container on the tipping floor at the designated transfer, processing and disposal facility and visually observing and documenting the contents (without pursuing a detailed weight-based characterization study). The materials will then be processed at the designated transfer, processing and disposal facility.
