WEEKLY INSTRUCTIONAL ASSIGNMENT. 1. Instructional assignment shall be defined as time during the school day for instructional purposes assigned to teaching courses and lessons, including time assigned to study periods. 2. Pursuant to the School Calendar Regulation established by legislation and regulation: The maximum weekly instructional time for a full-time elementary teacher shall be 1335 minutes per week. A minimum of an additional 90 minutes per week (100 minutes effective September 2014 and 110 minutes effective June 30, 2019) shall be provided for purposes of preparation. The maximum weekly instructional time for a full-time middle school teacher shall be 1352 minutes per week. A minimum of an additional 193 minutes per week shall be provided for purposes of preparation, which shall include a minimum of 39 minutes per week team-directed common planning time. The maximum weekly instructional time for a full-time secondary teacher shall be 1352 minutes per week. A minimum of an additional 193 minutes per week shall be provided for purposes of preparation. 3. The instructional time for part-time teachers shall be pro-rated. 4. In an elementary school, the duration of the school day shall not exceed six hours inclusive of: a. instructional time, 15 minutes of recess and preparation time (the sum total not to exceed five hours)
