Absence from duty definition

Absence from duty. ’ means unauthorized absence from duty.
Absence from duty as used herein means being on a leave of absence under Article VII of the Agreement, FMLA leave, sick leave, holiday leave, comp time off, vacation or suspension.

Examples of Absence from duty in a sentence

  • Absence from duty because the employee's presence is needed to attend to the serious illness of a member of his or her immediate family.

  • Absence from duty because: (1) the employee’s presence is needed to attend to the diagnosis, care, or treatment of an existing health condition of, or preventive care for, an employee or an employee’s family member; or (2) an employee is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking and the employee uses the leave time for the purposes described in Labor Code sections 230(c) and 230.1(a).

  • Absence from duty because of personal emergencies not to exceed thirty (30) annual leave hours during the fiscal year.

  • maternity or paternity leave of absence means, for Plan Years beginning after December 31, 1984, an absence from work for any period by reason of the Employee's pregnancy, birth of the Employee's child, placement of a child with the Employee in connection with the adoption of such child, or any absence for the purpose of caring for such child for a period immediately following such birth or placement. For this purpose, Hours of Service shall be credited for the computation period in which the absence from work begins, only if credit therefore is necessary to prevent the Employee from incurring a 1-Year Break in Service, or, in any other case, in the immediately following computation period.   • Approved Leave of Absence means an absence from active service pursuant to an approved leave policy with a guaranteed right of reinstatement.
