Adult bookstore definition

Adult bookstore or “adult video store” means a commercial establishment which, as one of its principal business purposes, offers for sale or rental, for any form of consideration, any one or more of the following:

Adult bookstore means a bookstore having as a preponderance of its publications, books, magazines, and other periodicals which are distinguished or characterized by their emphasis on matter depicting, describing, or relating to specified sexual activities or specified anatomical areas as defined in this subsection.

Adult bookstore means an establishment having as a substantial portion of its stock in trade ("substantial portion" meaning over twenty percent (20%) of floor area, or over twenty percent (20%) of inventory by units or value, or over twenty percent (20%) of revenues, or an inventory of two hundred (200) or more units) in books, films, video cassettes, compact discs, computer software, computer generated images or text, or magazines and other periodicals or publications or reproductions of any kind which are distinguished or characterized by their emphasis on matter depicting, describing or relating to "specified sexual activities" or "specified anatomical areas" as defined below, and in conjunction therewith have facilities for the presentation of adult entertainment, as defined below, and including adult-oriented films, movies, or live entertainment, for observation by patrons therein.

• Adult bookstore, adult cabaret, adult entertainment, adult mini-motion picture theater, adult motion picture theater, adult oriented establishments" are those activities or establishments as defined in Tennessee Code Annotated, § 7-51-1102.

Adult bookstore means an establishment having as its stock in trade, for sale, rent, lease, inspection or viewing, books, films, video cassettes, magazines or other periodicals which are distinguished or characterized by their emphasis on matters depicting, describing or relating to "specific sexual activities" or "specified anatomical areas" as defined below, and in conjunction therewith have facilities for the presentation of adult entertainment, as defined below, including adult-oriented films, movies or live performances, for observation by patrons therein.

Adult bookstore or “Adult Video Store ” shall mean an establishment which, as one of its principal business activities, offers for sale or rental for any form of consideration any one or more of the following: books, magazines, periodicals or other printed matter, photographs, films, motion pictures, video cassettes, compact discs, digital video discs, or other visual representations which are characterized by their emphasis upon the display of specified sexual activities or specified anatomical areas.

Adult bookstore means a business which offers, as its principal or predominate stock or trade, sexually oriented material, devices, or paraphernalia or specified sexual activities, or any combination or form thereof, whether printed, filmed, recorded, or live and which restricts or purports to restrict admission to adults or to any class of adults as defined within Tennessee Code Annotated Sections 7-51- 1102 and 7-51-1401;

Adult bookstore means an establishment having as its stock in trade, for sale, rent, lease, inspection or viewing books, films, video cassettes, motion pictures, magazines or other periodicals which are distinguished or characterized by their emphasis on matters depicting, describing or relating to specific sexual activities or specified anatomical areas, and in conjunction therewith have facilities for the presentation of adult entertainment, including adult-oriented videotapes, films, motion pictures or other offered entertainment, for observation by patrons therein.

Adult bookstore means a business that offers, as its principal or predominate stock or trade, sexually oriented material, devices, or paraphernalia, whether determined by the total number of sexually oriented materials, devices or paraphernalia offered for sale, by the percent of its total sales or its profits, by the retail value of such materials, devices or paraphernalia, specified sexual activities, or any combination or form thereof, whether printed, filmed, recorded or live, or that in part or in whole restricts or purports to restrict admission to adults or to any class of adults. The definition specifically includes items sexually oriented in nature, regardless of how labeled or sold, such as adult novelties, risqué gifts or marital aids;

Adult bookstore means an establishment or business used for the barter, rental, or sale of items consisting of printed matter, pictures, slides, records, audio tape, videotape, movies, or motion picture film if a substantial or significant portion of its inventory, stock in trade, or publicly displayed merchandise consists of, or if a substantial or significant portion of its floor area (not including storerooms, stock areas, bathrooms, basements, or any portion of the business not open to the public) is devoted to, or if substantial or significant portion of its gross revenues is derived from items, merchandise, devices or materials that are distinguished or characterized by an emphasis on material depicting, exposing, simulating, describing, or relating to Specified Sexual Activities or Specified Anatomical Areas.
