Alongside midwifery unit means a birthing center that meets the requirements described in Subsection (7).

Alongside midwifery unit means a birthing unit that may be licensed as a birthing center and is connected to a hospital facility, either through a bridge, ramp, or adjacent to the labor and delivery unit within the hospital with care provided with the midwifery model of care, where maternal patients are received and care provided during labor, delivery, and immediately after delivery.
