Base jurisdiction means the member jurisdiction, selected in accordance with the plan, to which an applicant applies for apportioned registration under the plan or the member jurisdiction that issues apportioned registration to a registrant under the plan.
Home jurisdiction means the jurisdiction that issued the driver's license of the traffic violator.
of any specified Person means any other Person directly or indirectly controlling or controlled by or under direct or indirect common control with such specified Person. For the purposes of this definition, "control" when used with respect to any specified Person means the power to direct the management and policies of such Person, directly or indirectly, whether through the ownership of voting securities, by contract or otherwise; and the terms "controlling" and "controlled" have meanings correlative to the foregoing.
Non-Cooperative Jurisdiction means any foreign country that has been designated as non-cooperative with international anti-money laundering principles or procedures by an intergovernmental group or organization, such as the Financial Task Force on Money Laundering, of which the U.S. is a member and with which designation the U.S. representative to the group or organization continues to concur.
Court of competent jurisdiction means a federal court, or a state court that entered an order in a child custody proceeding involving an Indian child, as long as the state court had proper subject matter jurisdiction in accordance with this chapter and the laws of that state, or a tribal court that had or has exclusive or concurrent jurisdiction pursuant to 25 U.S.C. Sec. 1911.
Other state means a state or territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, and the
Taxing Authority means any governmental authority or any subdivision, agency, commission or entity thereof or any quasi-governmental or private body having jurisdiction over the assessment, determination, collection or imposition of any Tax (including the IRS).
Actions or Proceedings means any action, suit, proceeding, arbitration or Governmental or Regulatory Authority investigation or audit.
Pertinent Jurisdiction in relation to a company, means:
Remote state means a member state other than the home state, where a licensee is exercising or seeking to exercise the compact privilege.
State Other Tax means any Tax imposed by any State of the United States (or by any political subdivision of any such State) or the District of Columbia, or any city or municipality located therein, other than any State Income Taxes, and any interest, penalties, additions to tax, or additional amounts in respect of the foregoing.
Action or Proceeding means any lawsuit, proceeding, arbitration or other alternative resolution process, Governmental Authority investigation hearing, audit, appeal, administrative proceeding or judicial proceeding.
Juvenile court means the district court of this state.
the City means the City and County of San Francisco, a municipal corporation, acting by and through both its Director of the Office of Contract Administration or the Director’s designated agent, hereinafter referred to as “Purchasing” and [insert name of department].
Other-states insurer" means an insurance company that is authorized to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage in any of the states that permit employers to obtain insurance for workers' compensation claims through insurance companies.
Judicial Authority means any court, arbitrator, special master, receiver, tribunal or similar body of any kind (including any Governmental Authority exercising judicial powers or functions of any kind).
Supreme Court means the North Carolina Supreme Court.
sitting means, in relation to a House, a period during which that House is sitting continuously without adjournment, and includes any period during which the House is in committee;

Venue means the premises as delineated and shown edged red in Annex A.
Indirect Losses means loss of profits, loss of production, loss of business, loss of business opportunity, or any claim for consequential loss or for indirect loss of any nature;
Official proceeding means any proceeding before a legislative, judicial, administrative, or other governmental agency or official authorized to take evidence under oath and includes any proceeding before a referee, hearing examiner, commissioner, notary, or other person taking testimony or a deposition in connection with an official proceeding.
bodies governed by public law means bodies that have all of the following characteristics:
Do-not-resuscitate order means that term as defined in section 2 of the Michigan do-not-resuscitate procedure act, 1996 PA 193, MCL 333.1052.
Direct Losses means all damages, losses, liabilities, penalties, fines, assessments, claims, actions, costs, expenses (including the cost of legal or professional services, legal costs being on a substantial indemnity basis), proceedings, demands and charges whether arising under statute, contract or at common law, except Indirect Losses.
with respect to any Person means any security, right, subscription, warrant, option, "phantom" stock right or other Contract that gives the right to (i) purchase or otherwise receive or be issued any shares of capital stock or other equity interests of such Person or any security of any kind convertible into or exchangeable or exercisable for any shares of capital stock or other equity interests of such Person, or (ii) receive any benefits or rights similar to those enjoyed by or accruing to the holder of shares of capital stock or other equity interests of such Person, including without limitation, any rights to participate in the equity, income or election of directors or officers of such Person.
