Attenuation correction definition

Attenuation correction means the use of X-rays from a CT scan to construct an attenuation map of density differences throughout the body that can then be used to correct for the absorption of the photons emitted from Fludeoxyglucose (18F) decay during a PET/CT scan.

Examples of Attenuation correction in a sentence

  • Attenuation correction in cardiac PET/CT with three different CT protocols: a comparison with conventional PET.

  • Attenuation correction of PET images with respiration-averaged CT images in PET/CT.
