Authorized Medical Attendant definition

Authorized Medical Attendant means any Medical Officer in the service of the Company or a duly qualified Registered Medical Practitioner where a medical officer is not provided, or a Medical Officer of Government/Subsidiary Company.

Authorized Medical Attendant. (AMA) means a Medical Officer or a Specialist of a Hospital where the patient is under medical treatment.

Authorized Medical Attendant or AMA means the doctor employed as a General Duty Medical Officer in any hospital as defined under rules or any Registered Medical Practitioner of the Allopathic/Homeopathic & Indian System of medicine viz. Ayurvedic, Unani & Naturopathy with minimum qualification of MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS/ BHMS/ BUMS/ BNYS/ GFAM or equivalent or as permissible by government of India guidelines.

• It has now been decided and Referral system has been simplified by dispensing away with the requirement of authorization for investigation, before actually undergoing these tests, which are necessary to arrive at diagnosis provided the tests have been advised by the specialist of the empanelled hospital to which the patient has been referred to be Authorized Medical Attendant (AMA) or the doctors of Government hospitals/dispensaries.
