AVAS sound definition

AVAS sound means a synthetic created sound which is controllable by an acoustic vehicle alerting systems. This means the sound(s) and sound characteristic(s) emitted by an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) to fulfil the requirements of this Regulation. The AVAS sound provides acoustic safety information to pedestrians and other road users on the vehicle's presence and operation.

Examples of AVAS sound in a sentence

  • Above 50 km/h the AVAS sound shall not create an increase of more than 1.0 dB to the vehicle’s overall sound pressure level in the same test condition of the same vehicle.
