Ballots cast definition

Ballots cast means the total number of ballots received by the county clerk in an election. “Ballots cast” does not include mail ballot envelopes returned to the county clerk by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable.

  • Ballots cast in contravention of the procedures specified in those provisions may not be counted.

  • Ballots cast for the eliminated candidate or proposition are now counted toward those voters’ second choices.

  • NOTE: All Provisional Ballots cast after 7:00 p.m. by court order shall be kept separate from other provisional ballots.

  • If the total number of Ballots cast equals the total number of Delegates and Alternates that registered to vote, there shall be no need for a recount.

  • Ballots cast online can only be viewed by the voter by logging in to the voting account with the same username and password: this enables voters to confirm their ballot has been recorded correctly.
