Drug or Alcohol Dependence definition

Drug or Alcohol Dependence means a mental, physical, or psychological dependence on drugs or alcohol that interferes with a staff person’s Fitness for Duty and that is considered by a physician to be a medical condition/disability.

  • Alcohol abuse means any pattern of pathological use of alcohol that causes impairment in social or occupational functioning, or that produces physiological dependency evidenced by physical tolerance or by physical symptoms when it is withdrawn.
