Groundwater under the direct influence of surface water means any water beneath the surface of the ground with:
Groundwater under the direct influence of surface water means any water beneath the surface of the ground with significant occurrence of insects or other macroorganisms, algae, or large-diameter pathogens, such as Giardia lamblia or Cryptosporidium, or significant and relatively rapid shifts in water characteristics, such as turbidity, temperature, conductivity, or pH, that closely correlate to climatological or surface water conditions. “Groundwater under the direct influence of surface water” is as determined in Section 611.212.
Groundwater under the direct influence of surface water or "GUDI" means any water beneath the surface of the ground with (i) significant occurrence of insects or other macroorganisms, algae, or large-diameter pathogens such as Giardia lamblia, or Cryptosporidium. It also means or (ii) significant and relatively rapid shifts in water characteristics such as turbidity, temperature, conductivity, or pH that closely correlate to climatological or surface water conditions. The GUDI source determinations shall be made by the commissioner in accordance with 12VAC5-590-430 will determine direct influence of surface water.
