Necessary medical services definition

Necessary medical services means any medical procedures deemed necessary to prevent the death of a pregnant woman or her unborn child due to life-endangering circumstances.

  • Necessary medical services are limited to necessary medical, surgical, dental, x- ray, ambulance, hospital, professional nursing and funeral services.

  • Necessary medical services do not include treatment, services, products or procedures that are experimental in nature, or not commonly and customarily recognized throughout the medical profession and within the United States as appropriate for the treatment of bodily injury.

  • PARTICIPATING MEDICAL GROUP agrees that, in the event a Member who is covered for workers’ compensation benefits by a workers’ compensation carrier affiliated with BLUE CROSS, seeks services for a work-related illness or injury, PARTICIPATING MEDICAL GROUP shall have the option to (a) provide such Medically Necessary medical services or (b) refer such Member to a provider that participates in the Prudent Buyer Comp provider network or the CalCare Comp provider network, whichever is applicable.

  • Necessary medical services mean prescribed medical services which are reasonable and necessary for treatment of the bodily injury, including the number and duration of treatments in the region in which those services are provided.

  • Treatment of delirium, dementia, amnesic disorders (as defined in the DSM-IV) and mental retardation are covered for Medically Necessary medical services but covered for accompanying behavioral and/or psycho- logical symptoms only if amenable to psychotherapeutic or psychiatric treatment.

  • Emergency medical services or “EMS” means an integrated medical care delivery system to provide emergency and nonemergency medical care at the scene or during out-of-hospital patient transportation in an ambulance.
