Physical Layer definition

Physical Layer shall have the same meaning as given in the TIA’s IS-95 digital cellular standard.
Physical Layer means the duct, fibre, copper, and other non-electronic assets in an Electronic Communications Network.
Physical Layer means the lowest level layer in the open systems interconnection protocol model: the physical layer is concerned with the transmission of binary information over the physical medium such as VHF radio;

Examples of Physical Layer in a sentence

  • The protocol consists of a Data Link Layer (reference [3]) and a Physical Layer (reference [4]).

  • The other specifications of the Physical Layer are contained in reference [4].

  • As outlined in IEEE Std 802-1990 [11], tThe LLC Sublayer, MAC Sublayer and Physical Layer standards also include a management component that specifies managed objects and aspects of the protocol machine that provide the management view of managed resources.

  • The purpose of this Recommended Standard is to specify synchronization and channel coding schemes used with the Proximity-1 Data Link Protocol (reference [3]) and Physical Layer (reference [4]).

  • The DP83867 is a fully featured Physical Layer transceiver with integrated PMD sublayers to support 10BASE- Te, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T Ethernet protocols.The DP83867 is designed for easy implementation of 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet LANs. It interfaces directly to twisted pair media via an external transformer.

  • On the receive side, the Data Link layer accepts the serial bitstream output from the receiver in the Physical Layer and processes the Protocol Data Units contained in it.

  • The Start Sequence of the CLTU may also be used for resolution of data ambiguity (sense of ‘1’ and ‘0’) if data ambiguity is not resolved by the modulation method used in the Physical Layer.

  • The data are encoded to reduce the effects of noise in the Physical Layer on the user data.

  • The Proximity-1 Space Link Protocol—Physical Layer (reference [20]) also contains recommendations for the Physical Layer of proximity space links.

More Definitions of Physical Layer

Physical Layer refers to the means of using the digitaldata stream information to modulate the transmitted signal and encompasses channel coding, i.e. the forward error-protection to protect the broadcast signal against incorrectly decoded bits.
