Seepage pit means an excavation deeper than it is wide that receives septic tank effluent and from which the effluent seeps from a structural internal void into the surrounding soil through the bottom and openings in the side of the pit.
Infiltration means water other than wastewater that enters a sewer system (including sewer system and foundation drains) from the ground through such means as defective pipes, pipe joints, connections, or manholes. Infiltration does not include, and is distinguished from, inflow.
Injection means the injection of carbon dioxide streams into the storage site;
Emission means a release of air contaminants into the ambient air.
Overflow means the intentional or unintentional diversion of flow from the collection and transport systems, including pumping facilities.
Sewage treatment plant means any arrangement of devices and structures used for treating sewage.
Leak of UPSI means communication of information which is/deemed to be UPSI by any person, who is in possession of UPSI, to any other person, directly or indirectly, overtly or covertly or in any manner whatsoever, except for legitimate purposes, performance of duties or discharge of legal obligations.
Filtration means a process for removing particulate matter from water by passage through porous media.
Flocculation means a process to enhance agglomeration or collection of smaller floc particles into larger, more easily settleable particles through gentle stirring by hydraulic or mechanical means.
Exfiltration means any unauthorized release of data from within an information system. This includes copying the data through covert network channels or the copying of data to unauthorized media.
Sediment means solid material, mineral or organic, that is in suspension, is being transported, or has been moved from its site of origin by air, water or gravity as a product of erosion.
Dumping means a private enterprise resident outside of the RSA market its goods on own initiative in the RSA at lower prices than that of the Country of Origin and which have the potential to harm the local industries in the RSA.
Smoke means the gases, particles, or vapors released into the air as a result of combustion, electrical ignition or vaporization, when the apparent or usual purpose of the combustion, electrical ignition or vaporization is human inhalation of the byproducts, except when the combusting or vaporizing of materials contains no tobacco or nicotine and the purpose of the inhalation is solely olfactory, such as, for example, smoke from incense. The term "smoke" includes, but is not limited to, tobacco smoke, electronic cigarette vapors, and cannabis smoke.
Spillage means a security incident that results in the transfer of classified or other sensitive or sensitive but unclassified information to an information system that is not accredited, (i.e., authorized) for the applicable security level of the data or information.
Potable means water suitable for drinking by the public.
Corrosive means any substance that when it comes in contact
Disinfection means a process which inactivates pathogenic organisms in water by chemical oxidants or equivalent agents.
Drainage means the movement of water to a place of disposal, whether by way of the natural characteristics of the ground surface or by artificial means;
Underground injection means the subsurface emplacement of fluids through a bored, drilled or driven well; or through a dug well, where the depth of the dug well is greater than the largest surface dimension. (See also “injection well”.)
Mine drainage means any drainage, and any water pumped or siphoned, from an active mining area or a post-mining area. The abbreviation “ml/l” means milliliters per liter.
Underground source of drinking water means an aquifer or its portion:
Membrane filtration means a pressure or vacuum driven separation process in which particulate matter larger than one micrometer is rejected by an engineered barrier, primarily through a size exclusion mechanism, and which has a measurable removal efficiency of a target organism that can be verified through the application of a direct integrity test. This definition includes the common membrane technologies of microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis.
Incineration means an engineered process involving burning or combustion of solid waste to thermally degrade waste materials at high temperatures;
Emitter means a drip irrigation emission device that delivers water slowly from the system to the soil.
Spill means the release of manure, manure contaminated runoff, or process wastewater from the confines of an animal feedlot, manure storage area, manure transfer system, or other component used to collect, transfer, or store manure, manure contaminated runoff, or process wastewater that if not recovered would pollute waters of the state. Spill includes releases from activities associated with land application that do not comply with this Permit.
Gasohol means a blended fuel composed of gasoline and fuel grade ethanol.
