Soil type definition

Soil type means one of seven numerical classifications of fine earth particles and rock fragments as described in WAC 246-272A-0220 (2)(e).
Soil type means the predominant Unified Soil Classification (USC) soil type between the deepest point of contamination and the seasonal high groundwater table; a responsible person may seek to demonstrate that otherwise coarse-grained soil has an organic carbon content that might enable a lower point classification. Soil types using the USC system are further defined as shown in Figure 1:
Soil type means one of seven numerical classifications based on USDA classifications of soil texture, structure and percent rock fragments as described in Table 1 in WAC 246-272B-03400.

  • Based on review of previous soil analytical data, the soils have been generally delineated on-site to Risk Based Target Levels (RBTLs) for Soil Type 2 (Silty Soil) per Section 5.8.1 of the MRBCA Guidance Document.

  • MDNR RBTL Comparison Cleanup Target Levels Contaminant of Concern Residential Surface Soil RBTL (Soil Type 2) mg/kg Non-Residential Surface Soil RBTL (Soil Type 2) mg/kg Background Cleanup Target Level mg/kg Lead 260 660 Not Applicable Arsenic 3.89 15.9 20.2 Benzo(a)pyrene 0.62 2.11 Not established Notes: Background cleanup target level is calculated using the mean plus two standard deviations.

  • Based on review of existing data and complete exposure pathways, the representative (average) concentration of benzo(a)pyrene is above the Tier 1 RBTL for Non- Residential Land Use (Soil Type 2) for the ingestion, inhalation (vapor emissions and particulates) and dermal contact surface soil cleanup criteria.

  • With respect to the current land use and current site conditions arsenic and lead representative concentrations in surface soil and subsurface soil are above the applicable Tier 1 RBTLs for Non-Residential Land Use Soil Type 2 for areas of the site that are not covered by concrete washout.
