Staff Master definition

Staff Master refers to the Deck Officers who is selected based upon seniority and the rules of Addendum B.
Staff Master is a Deck Officer and Pilot of the highest classification and one who possesses a minimum license qualification of an Inland Master and First Class Pilot of vessels of any gross tons, and is otherwise qualified under this Agreement to appear on the Master’s Seniority Roster. A Master is the ultimate authority onboard all WSF vessels as defined in RCW 47.64.340.

Mate/Pilot The term “Mate/Pilot” includes Chief Mate, Second Mate and Extra Relief Mates who are also Pilots according to their license who possess the minimum license qualifications of an Inland Mate and First Class Pilot of any gross tons with pilotage.

Examples of Staff Master in a sentence

  • The Staff Master, after successfully completing their six (6) month probationary period, will be considered a Staff Master in good standing, and may be evaluated annually.

  • After reviewing the facts, the Peer Review Committee may meet with the Staff Master and inform the employee of the areas they need to improve and will have ninety (90) days to improve their performance.

  • If poor performance exists prior to the six (6) months probationary period, an emergency meeting may be held by the Peer Review Committee to inform the Staff Master that they need to improve performance.

  • Any Staff Master that does not meet acceptable standards will remain on probation for another six (6) month period.

  • The Staff Master classification scope of responsibility is delineated in a Staff Master Addendum B as part of the agreement between the parties.

  • The terms and conditions of this Agreement will apply to any WSF Mate with a Masters license when working as a Staff Master, Master or Relief Master regardless of the length of time.

  • A Staff Master who fails to meet the final Peer Review Committee’s acceptable standards will be removed from the Staff Master designation.

  • Any Deck Officer who works fifty-six (56) hours or more in any given work period at a classification higher than the Deck Officer’s regularly assigned classification, (i.e., Master to Staff Master) shall be paid for the entire eighty (80) hour work period at the rate of pay applicable to the highest classification worked by the Deck Officer during that work period.

  • If during a phone bump for a permanent positions, a Staff Master is displaced from a Staff Master Position on a vessel number/route by a more senior Master bumping into a position on the same vessel number/route, that displaced Staff Master shall have the right to a bump by seniority.

  • When an employee is promoted at the commencement of a work shift in order to comply with the COI, due to the late arrival of another Master or Staff Master, the promoted Master shall be compensated at the higher salary on an hour-for-hour basis, with a two (2) hour minimum, until relieved.

Related to Staff Master

  • Harbour Master means the ABP Harbour Master or Dock Master for the Port (as appropriate) or their authorised representative;

  • Cloud Services means SAP’s then-current cloud services offered under and described in detail in the applicable SAP PartnerEdge Model.

  • SPECIALTY HOSPITAL means a hospital or the specialty unit of a general hospital that is licensed by the state. It must be designed to care for patients with injuries or special illnesses. This includes, but is not limited to, a long-term acute care unit, an acute mental health or acute short-term rehabilitation unit or hospital. Hospital does not mean: • convalescent home; • rest home; • nursing home; • home for the aged; • school and college infirmary; • residential treatment facility; • long-term care facility; • urgent care center or freestanding ambulatory surgical center; • facility providing mainly custodial, educational or rehabilitative care; or • a section of a hospital used for custodial, educational or rehabilitative care, even if accredited by the JCAHO or listed in the AHA directory.
