Virtual Local Area Network definition

Virtual Local Area Network or “VLAN” means a data communication network, configured using the IEEE 802.1q standard that logically interconnects computers and network devices, allowing a group of hosts to communicate, regardless of Location, as if they were attached to the same physical media.
Virtual Local Area Network means a group of hosts with a common set of requirements that communicate as if they were attached to the same wire, regardless of their physical location. A VLAN has the same attributes as a physical LAN, but it allows for end stations to be grouped together even if they are not located on the same LAN segment. Network reconfiguration can be done through software instead of physically relocating devices.
Virtual Local Area Network means a connection of two locations within the Supplier’s Network so as to create therein an Ethernet virtual local area network that enables data transfer between the locations connected by the same virtual network and prevents data transfer between locations that are not part of the same virtual network.
