Common use of Towing Clause in Contracts

Towing. Where the operability of a motor vehicle cannot be restored on-site of the insured event the salvage truck arriving on the spot shall tow (carry) the motor vehicle to the closest service station. This service shall be available up to three times a year. If in the course of a journey the motor vehicle is not capable of continuing the journey on account of its inoperability for any reason, - including the theft of the car abroad – and the Insured is forced to break off the trip, (including a trip to the place of permanent residence), the Insurer shall provide the following service: The Insurer shall bear the travelling expenses of the Insured – between the location that was the original destination of the trip and the location of the claim event (including the trip to and from the repair shop) or the trip to the place of permanent residence of the Insured and back to the repair shop – this latter journey to be taken by the Insured or another person des- ignated by the Insured. The trip may be completed using a scheduled means of public transport – as chosen by the Insured – through the short- est available route. The cost reimbursement by the Insurer shall cover the price of a second class railroad ticket (with extra charge or discount) and the cost of the taxi to the train station.
