REGIONAL INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY (RIDS. The RIDS, which bears relevance to co‐operatives, propose the establishment of special economic zones (SEZ) – industrial parks, logistics parks, industrial estates, innovation hubs and other measures, such as promoting regional growth coalitions and supporting industrial clustering among firms, including co‐operatives, in order to foster regional industrial development. RIDS also proposes the establishment of a Systematic Competitiveness Facility or Thematic Fund, to support innovative regional development initiatives. A component of the Fund will be a support facility for innovative start‐ups, which include SMMEs and cooperatives.
