AFFIRMATIVE ACTION/NON-DISCRIMINATION. a. It is the policy of the District and Union, not to discriminate against any employee covered by this Agreement in a manner, which would violate any applicable laws because of race, creed, color, religion, ancestry, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, political affiliation, Vietnam-era veteran status, disability, or otherwise included in a disadvantaged group. The Union further recognizes the District’s commitment to principles of both equal employment opportunity and affirmative action. b. All references in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, or associated documents that refers specifically to the male or female gender, shall be construed to apply equally to the opposite.
