Walkers/Bus Riders XXXX takes no responsibility for student walkers. Due to limited sidewalks and high volume traffic in the immediate area, walking is strongly discouraged. Parents/Guardians who desire for their child to walk or ride the bus, to or from school, must submit a written request to the OSES administration for consideration. OSS Middle and high school students are not permitted on the OSES campus after school without direct permission from the school principal. Bicycles, Skateboards, Roller Blades, and Scooters Bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, and/or scooters, are not permitted on school property. School Sponsored Activities From time to time, OSES administration may organize or sponsor off-campus activities. Unless otherwise specified by the administration, all school rules are in effect in any such school sponsored activity. Eligibility to participate in such programs and specific policies will be determined and announced by the administration as needed.. ~ 32 ~

After School Care Program. The After School Care Program is established to accommodate parents who cannot pick up their students at the end of the club periodbefore 4:00 PM. Students will be hosted under supervision of an adult and will be able to read, study, and do homework during this time. The charge for this service is subject to change according to agreement with after school care provider. If any changes occur, parents will be announced during the orientation day before the school startsyear. Monthly registration for discounted price will be available. Afterschool care program is provided until a specified time 6:00 pm every day. Regardless of the situation, we will may call the local authorities and give them custody of the student, if the student is not picked up before the specified time provided in the afterschool care packetafter 6:00 pm. Neither OSES NSS nor the teacher assumes any responsibility responsibly for the welfare of the student. OSES NSS doesn’t offer before school care and supervision starts at 7:30 am. NSS is NOT responsible for students dropped off earlier than 7:30am. Communications Between between School & Home Every effort will be made to ensure good communication between the home and the school. Parents may communicate directly with the school's staff members via e-mail, voice mail, written request, or by accessing the school's web page. A softcopy of the newsletter will if available may be sent home weekly monthly via e-mail announcing upcoming school activities and events. Hardcopy version will versions may be available at the end of each week month in the front lobby office of the school. Student agenda’s school should be used you ask for daily communication of assignments, progress, and behaviorone. Field Trips Field Trips offer exciting ways to learn. OSES NSS students will have the opportunity to go on field trips at various times throughout the school year. Grade level and/or team sponsored day field trips are offered to most students. Students, who have received an out- out-of-school suspension (OSS) during the school year, will may not be eligible to participate in any overnight field trips for the rest of the school year and any fees or deposits paid earlier are non-refundable. In addition, any student who has demonstrated the inability to follow rules may be prohibited from participating - this determination will be made approved by the administration on an individual basis. Any fees or deposits paid earlier are non-non- refundable. Students who has an unpaid balance of school fees, cafeteria account, extended daycare (or afterschool care) fees or any other amount due will not be eligible to participate in any field trips at the discretion of administration. For all field trips, you will be expected to follow these rules: • You must abide by the OSES NSS Code of Conduct and Discipline Plan while on the field trip. • You must follow the OSES NSS Dress Code, wearing the “royal navy and khaki” uniform unless otherwise specified. • You must bring to school the Field Trip Permission Slip, signed by your parents or guardian, by the specified date. No phone calls or e-mails will be accepted as permission. Lunch/Nutrition Program Students may purchase a nutritional lunch in the school cafeteria or may bring their lunch from home. The cost for student lunch is announced at the beginning of school and can be paid on a monthly basis ONLYbasis. Students may purchase extra milk, bottled water, and other nutritional beverages at school. Students needing We recommend all parents to apply for free or reduced lunch should option. Home Visits Research has shown Researches show that home visits help with both academic and behavioral performance. The overall goal of home visiting is to help strengthen relationships between parents, parents and teachers, and students. Home visiting programs are an effective way for teachers to get parents involved in their child’s education and to let parents and children know how much they care. Therefore, OSES NSS encourages teachers to visit their students at their homes. Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) The purpose of the student support team (MTSS) is to identify and plan alternative instructional strategies for students who are experiencing academic, social, or behavioral problems. The student support team is a committee consisting of the referring teacher, the chairperson, and at least one other participant. Parents are invited to attend the MTSS process regarding their child. The MTSS process provides problem-solving strategies and instructional support for teachers and parents. Questions concerning the referral process should be referred to an administrator. Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Orlando Science Schools NEW SPRINGS SCHOOLS employs an ESE Staffing Specialist Teacher to provide consultation services to classroom teachers who serve special education students, as needed. OSES NSS shall comply with federal and state law to ensure that all students with disabilities are will be provided with a free appropriate education (FAPE). School Pictures A contracted photographer or school employee will photograph students in the school during the fall and/or spring semesters. Students who are purchasing pictures may dress up on this day while following school appropriate attire due to purchase pictures through NSS dress code addressed in the “Dress Code” section above. Parking is only allowed at the designated spots in the far north of the parking lot area. Automobiles must not drive through or park in the drop off/pick up areas. Parents must keep Parent Pick-up cards at dashboard visible for NSS staff during pick-up times. Parents who do not present the pick-up cards may be asked to pick up their students from front office with a photo ID. When picking a student up at earlier than the dismissal timetime or after the dismissal window, please use the appropriate lane assignedparking spaces at the front of the building, and come inside to sign out your student at front office.
