Alternative Options for Making Load. Subject to receiving prior approval as specified in section “b” below, a faculty member may opt to spread his/her full-time teaching load over three consecutive semesters; either Summer, Fall, Spring, or Fall, Spring, Summer. Faculty may opt to satisfy their load by teaching in any two of three semesters or by teaching in all three semesters. A faculty member may not spread out load over Summer, Fall, Spring, Summer. Office hours will be pro-rated, based on the percentage of load taught during a semester, including pre-summer or summer session. If a faculty member is scheduled to, but does not make load during the regular academic year (fall/spring semesters), he or she may also be able to teach during the following pre- summer or summer sessions, subject to availability and approval, and thereby retain his/her full-time faculty status. Alternatively, a faculty member may choose to begin their academic year with the summer session and spread their work load through the succeeding semesters of the academic year.
