Appointment in a Higher Class. An employee following completion of the probationary period or six (6) months of service, and who is appointed to a position in a higher classification, deemed to be promotive shall have their salary adjusted to that step in the promotive class as follows: a. If the employee is receiving a salary in their present classification equal to or above the entrance step of the promotive class, the employee's salary in the promotive class shall be adjusted two steps in the compensation schedule over the salary received in the lower class but not above the maximum of the salary range of the promotive classification. b. If the employee is receiving a salary in their present classification which is less than the entrance step of the salary range of the promotive classification, the employee shall receive a salary step in the promotive class which is closest to an adjustment of seven and one-half percent (7.5%) above the salary received in the class from which promoted. The proper step shall be determined in the bi-weekly compensation schedule and shall not be above the maximum of the salary range of the promotive class.
